You need to first make a bet on either the “Pass” line or the “Don’t Pass” line. The best bet recommended in a craps game is the pass line bet. Pass line bets must be placed before you roll the dice. This is a ‘come out’ roll. The basic aim is to roll out a 7 either by rolling 3-4, 5-2 or 6-1. If you roll out 2, 3 or 12, you lose all bets on the pass line. If you throw a 7 or 11 you win automatically, and all pass line bets pay an amount equal to the original bet. If you throw any other number that number will be the called the "point."
